Well you will firstly have to cut the area behind the grill in the bonnet to allow any air to pass through which will also, as oze-ford mentioned, let water into the engine bay.

You could in theory, drill holes into the grill as well as the bonnet, then build a custom primary air scoop that diverts air towards the intake snorkel...the water that enters will be collected at the bottom of the air box which will eventually drain.

I doubt you will see any benefit from it though, but it will be something different. You're better off getting something like a SS induction (the one that runs over the top of the thermos) to feed more air in...or you can just make one up if you're more inclined with custom made stuff.
