ok i have a new pump here ... do i put gasket goo on both sides of the gasket that i trashed last time ......

ie. do i apply the sealant to both sides of both gaskets?

Since you do have the sealant and a new pump, just smear a bit on both sides of the gasket for both gaskets. Also you may need to put some gasket maker on the thread of one of the bolts, because it may leak due to sticking a bit too far in...someone may correct me on that one.
