While taking the head off my EL i undid the bolt for the timing chain guide and i had realized it had broken.

What is there i can do about this?

Nothing much really...gluing it together won't work. Best way is to replace it, but that will obviously be more of a pain in the a***.

I have heard people run with broken guides...not sure which one they were talking about though.

Looking at the wear on that guide, I'd be replacing the lot, guides and chain.

Best thing to do is avoid dropping the head on the guide altogether... Next best thing is pull the timing case off and replace them as mentioned...

EDIT - Just read the end of your post... If you found it "broken" when you undid the bolt, head has been off it before and someone else has dropped the head or applied too much force to it... The don't just "break themselves", fairly solid for what they are... God knows how long it's been like it...

They do just brake when they are that worn.

Remember though, not all the guides are still available and there are none (AFAIK) made after market.
Just like the Balance Shaft.

You can buy them from burson auto store, buy one sepperate or buy a kit.
