Hi guys was driving to frankston tonight and as we arrived I heard a big noise like my aircon had turned on by itself. Turns out the drive belt has come off one of the lower pulleys, is it uneasy enough to put back on? And the steering started to lock as I parked it, why would this be? Urgently wanna fix this i dont really wana be stuck in frankston for the night which is over an hour away haha.
Any help much appreciated guys thanks |

the steering would be heavy due to no power steering,as for locking up that sounds like a weird one.
watch out when driving because the belt may keep coming off, my belt came off once and when i put it back on it was stuffed and kept coming off every 200 metres until i replaced it with a new one

depending on the pullies you have you could use panty hose (get them at the local 7/11) to get you somewhere that you can get a new one...the steering is going to be real heavy and maybe even jerky at low revs but once you are moving it will pretty much be like normal just a bit heavier maybe

good luck with it...but what ever you do DO NOT get one fo those emergency belts that join with the lil metal clip...i had one let go on me years ago and it left a nice little nipple dent in my bonet....mind you not sure if they still sell them either lol

Serpentine belts don't come off for no reason.

Well with his mechanical knowledge I doubt he has the knowledge to propperly diagnose the problem, trying to limp it home is his only option.
Or stay the night. |

The only thing trying to limp it home will do is create more damage.
A tow truck would be cheaper. Then again, proper maintenance would be cheaper. |

If the belt threw itself off....Harmonic balancer starting to be out of wack too far, idler/tensioner pulleys locked up........tensioner assembly worn to the point of the belt rubbing on the tensioner arm.......
