Hey everyone, my brother bought a BOSS 290 (or so he was told) for his AU falcon project and he wants to make sure the engine is indeed what it is before he sources all the other parts for it. He has the engine number, but ford couldn't tell him what it was without the VIN number and he bought the engine out of a wreck that he hasn't got access to.
Here is the engine number, he's not sure if one of the numbers is a 0 or a D: 2L7E6C 0 or D 86-FB so it would either be: 2L7E6C086-FB OR 2L7E6cD86-FB If anyone could give us a hand, we'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. That doesn't look like an engine number at all. Should be: FPVP6J00000 from a BF or like XR8UTE from a BA

they look like the numbers off the heads, I am pretty sure that is a head part number anyways. Tell him to look a bit lower for the block number.

Mine is a sticker on the block at the back of the valley.

The engine number is located at the front of the engine on the black behind where the alternator is.

you also need a small mirror to read the number because of the placing of the alternator

In the first pic, see the water pump pulley ???....then a bolt just above it ???....there is a mchined pad there...it has the engine number on it.
This is an 03 BA XR8 260 engine.
