Need some info,got a 302 Windsor,in a 32roadster,small cam,estreet alloy heads ,extractors,straight LPG,c4, standard stall9inch,3.1,28inch rear tyre,needs more rear end gearing,3.7!!! Maybe more, has not got much got up and go,comp ratio unknown,is their a way to calculate!!Thanx pete

Is this car a new purchase or did you build the engine? I dunno, it doesn't sound like its right...

Only way to get a definitive answer is to pull a head off and take some measurements.
Bore (could have been overbored during a prior rebuild) Piston to deck height at TDC and BDC Combustion chamber volume (with sparkplug screwed in). This is done with either a surringe or burrette and some plexi glass. Once you get those then comp ratio is calculated from total combustion volume at BDC divided by total combustion volume at TDC. Total combustion volume at any particular point in a pistons travel is calculated as follows: 3.1415927 X bore X bore / 4 X pixston to deck height + combustion chamber volume Hope that helped out. |
