I'm looking at upgrading the sound system in my AU with the Premium Sound system. It has 5x7" in the front doors and tweeters in the A-pillars. Can anyone tell me how these are wired up?
Is it a signal wire from the amplifier to the 5x7" speaker, then from there to the tweeter, or is the tweeter wired up seperately or ...? Is there a crossover box somewhere? If I remove the 5x7" and fit a new speaker, will the factory tweeters still run properly or not? |

Have been told:
the tweeter is just bridged off the speaker and has its own little capacitor to filter out the lower frequencies. If you are changing the 5x7's you can leave the factory tweeters connected that is fine they will not cause any harm. Some prefer the tweeter connected some say it messes up the volume. Totally up to you. if you are intending to amplify the speakers however then it is highly recommended you disconnect the tweeters.
|

Mine are amped, I ran the wires back into the factory harness behind the head and replaced the speakers. They're fekin loud but with a decent head unit you can phase out annoying frequencies.
