I've currently got a 97 nl fairlane and am going to be dropping a supercharged 6 into it, the motor comes with a j3 chip and el ecu, I've been thinking and doin a bit of research and I honestly don't want to lose my steering, is it possible to maybe tune the j3 and plug into the nl ecu so at least I save my steering ? The motor is built and is expected to push around 190 kw, obviously gonna run a but different and lumpier with the work done and the blower but just don't want my steering to go normal, I love the lightness

Short answer: Yes.
They have identified the switch for SSPS in the code. SSPS can be enabled on a manual tune. |

When you say manual tune, man transimission or actually pinpointing it in the tune?

I mean manual transmission.
I assumed your car was a manual and that's why you were asking. Previously, when using a manual bin file, you would lose ssps, but now they can turn it on in the tune. If yours is an auto, then your tuner just has to use an auto base tune that has ssps already (EL Fairmont Ghia, NL Fairlane) |

Car is a nl fairlane, picking up a supercharged 4 liter for it but don't wanna lose my fairlane goodies, motor is coming with a el ecu with j3 chip and basic tune, gonna have to retune to suit the blower but hoping it will work with the nl ecu, also going to leave it auto

You could just plug the chip in to your Ecu.

I just realised I have been assuming you are talking about a J3 chip from T.I. performance.
Is it a T.I. chip or something else? |
