Hey guys tried searching this but didn't come up with anything, just wondering if removing the firewall cover is bad has half of mine is flaking heaps and am gonna rip it out when I take the engine out to fix a few things.

ive seen them removed before, if it starts falling apart its a fire hazard around the exhaust.
unless its fireproof :? doesnt seem like it would be though

yeah same here, though it may make the engine bay louder from in the cabin and also though apart it catching firewall if it can, was gonna replace it with the ACL heatshield stuff near the rear of the engine has also was thinking it might crack it or something.

If it wasn't fire proof, I doubt it would have been put there in the first place. From what I know, it is fire proof and needs to be there to prevent heat from getting through into the cabin and fire if it were to arise. Sound deadening is usually placed inside the cabin, such as under the carpet/behind dash.

If you can get your hands on a new one, put it on.

yeah true, now to find a good decent one with no rips etc on the cheap.

ive seen a few pov pack ef and el's that didnt have anything on the firewall..
afaik its there for noise reduction..
i wouldnt say its fire proof but its definatly not a fire hazard like the bonnet liner..lol
