Ok, so I followed the doc as a guide and installed the trip computer out of my dead EBII Fairmont into my new (well to me anyway) EB GLI.

It all works really well, except for the dim function when the lights are on. The trip computer doesn't dim when the parkers come on like it did in the Fairmont and doesn't adjust from bright to dull using the control.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

BenJ

The dimming function uses PWM (pulse width modulation) and your car will not have that available. You can get a small kit from DS $14.95, takes about 15 mins to make up and will allow you to vary the brightness of the LCD display in the trip computer. If you wire it correctly you can have it dim the display when the lights are switched on. See how you go, if you need help email me at clive45@bigpond.com and I will email you the diagram showing how to wire it up.

Cheers

Clive

Thanks for the tip.

At the moment I am considering installing the Central Controller from my dead EBII Fairmont to enable things like the power arial, interior light dimming feature etc, which should also allow me to use the Fairmont dimming switch.

If that doesn't pan out, I will have a look at your suggestion.

Many thanks again
BenJ
