Hey guys ive just finnished instaling my msd 6al into my ed 4l falcon and i started it up and it seems to idle a little rough until you rev it past 1000rpm then the roughnes go's away is there a reason for this or is it normal? Do i have to advance timing to help with the 6al

You may need to check your ignition timing...........how good are your HT leads???

All good found out i needed to advance the timing idle's good at 18c advanced
I also found that my msd 6al made it rev alot smother into the topend and i now have a rev limiter of 6000rpm and i paid nothing for it |

I have also read that people have seen gains of a drop in the 1/4 mile time by .4 of a second not bad for $350 buddy but i will say this if u buy msd 6al also get an msd blaster ss coil they work better together

I can put up the diagram but its easy Msdignitions.com have the diagram on there site only wire i had troble with was the white wire having to go from one of the wires at the dizzy to the 6al
Solid red - +battery Solid black - -battery Red - 12v switch White - coil - from dizzy (ed l6 is light pink wire) Thin black - coil - orange - coil + If that make sence i also found advancing the timing helped it idle smooth Last edited by EDRAG on Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:05 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

the 6a is a little cheaper but does the same job..except without the rev limiter.
so would i be able to fit this to the el and the standard rev limiter will work from the ecu? also il need to use their coil ? thanks for any input to my questions

Yes the 6a will work and your rev limiter will stay the same via the ecu and i use a bosch coil for mine and it works fine

Im a holden man i have no idea Yep - EL went back to distributor after they tried coilpacks in the EF - then AUI went back to same coilpack as EF then AUII and AUIII went to a different type of coilpack that's somewhat more powerful than the EF / AUI coilpack. Of those earlier cars, EL is the sweet spot for great well sorted design at a good price - and then if going to AU stay away from AUI
