I need to deepen the gearbox input shaft recess in the rear of the crankshaft by 5mm or so.
Is there an oil gallery in the crank anywhere near there or anything else to be wary of?

I am doing a motor conversion and the car's gearbox input shaft requires triming down, I would rather not do that but make room for it in the crank.

5mm of the pilot on the input shaft would be WAY easier.

The only way its easier is if I angle grind the input shaft off in situ.
I am not sure I like doing that.

Not sure what the grinding will do to the surface of the shaft. BTWthe original motor will not be going back in EVER.

If you take slow and don't heat the shaft up it won't hurt it.
Use the thin 1mm cut off wheels. |
