hey all, ive got a EA 5 speed mpi, and i am thinkin of swappin motors for an AU. i have talked to some ppl but i want to verify the following:

*Au is Straight swap engine mounts wise.
*t5 gear box bolts straight up.
*au inlet manifold clears ea bonnet.
*sump has to be modified to clear supsension. (cheap$$$).
*can use ea mpi computer. if i swap the au fuel rail etc with the ea fuel rail.
*my pacemakers and stage 1 crow cam off ea, will fit au motor.

so basicly i just want to find out any info or and problems i might encounter. if any one has done similar conversion. could u please post

Yes, just bolt the EA mounts to the AU block

Sort of, most of the bellhousing bolts will line up but a few wont. Still more than engough for it to work

yes

yes it does, have to grind the sump to make it fit

Your best bet is to get an EL ecu

Ive just put an AU XR6 engine into my EB XR6 so if you have any questions just ask..

You will need all the running gear for the serpentine setup and an XH tensioner pulley... you will also need a custom reducer for the bottom radiator hose

im not to sure about that as im running the EB manifold so ive kept my EB XR ECU... though i would imagine it would run the injectors..

Im not sure on this but im pretty sure it will run your cluster

your cluster should work fine

only problem you will run into is that the AU's use a different MAP and IAT sensors. Not sure if they are compatible with the EL ECU, but if not you should be able to get by with your EA sensors.

SO EL ECU HAS SAME CONNECTORS AS EA ECU? AND WHICH BELL HOUSING WOULD BEST SUIT THE T5 ONTO THE AU MOTOR?

hmm dumbo question here but im thinking of doing this in the near futire now ive purchased a BRAND new alternator for my EA and it was alotof money

So if i do my conversion can i just re use my timming cover and the old school style set up

obviously harmonic balancer swap etc big 1 hour job and knuckle busting but ya would it work ?

im just thinking for the future as i <3 my EA and want it to last forever and i know the first thing to go in my genuine 120K km EA will be my motor the head warping or something

i drive it naturally never past 2.5K rpm and no hooning transmiton in the 3 speed is still red and i did a service on it anyway lol plus its got service logs lol
