on the way home from work today my eb2 fairmont 6 was runnig really ruff and stilling at the lights and i seen the trip computer was saying 33.8L ave per 100ks on the highway .i drive about 30ks each way to work and it used 1/4 of tank on the way home and you can smell the fuel when you stopped .it would normaly do 12l per 100ks on ave in city and highway together and a tank will last a week .it was fine on the way to work any ideas guys whats going on to make it run so rich. i dont have $300 to go to work each week lol a $100 is bad enuff :(

start with checking the map sensor hose, on the passenger side up on the firewall from the map sensor to the back of the intake manifold. Hose could be disodged, cracked etc.
Also check for any vacuum leaks, you should be able to hear them with engine running,
and last but not least, the o2 sensor.

on my EF the fuel regulator s**t itself, when that happened it was putting fuel into the rail at the same pressure at the pump so ie really down on power stalling and high fuel, basically it was flooding itself.

i just grabbed one from a self pull wreckers, free and put it in and it was fine regulator is at the rear of the fuel rail not sure about the EB tho. but yeah as rachnglen said check map sensor first and all hoses as im pretty sure the regulator relies on vacuum pressure to regulate fuel intake

is that near the vaccume lines for the heat they come out all the time

here is a pic of a EF fuel rail and regulator on the end, as you can see there is a vac line on the regulator, if the line comes off it will fail to ( regulate ) fuel pressure, could be as simple as that, as i said before im not to sure on the EB manifold might be a different setup

it looks the same. i have a m8 with a 93 fairlane 6 that hes wrecking it should be the same as that i hope .will try a few things tomoro . the reg turns the off pump and on ae ill cheak to see if it turns off when i turn the key on ?

it could be the fuel reg its played up a few times in the last few months at the lights ect and stilled would that sound rite ?

fixed it map sensor hose come off it 8-) dum thing
