Hi,
Now that the days have been getting darker, earlier.. when i turn my headlights/highbeams on my 94 ef fairmont trys to stall. i took it to a mechanic and found the alternator was overcharging at 16V. i just replaced it and the Earth battery strap to the block as i was told it fryed... i changed it all, to find out it was worse then what it had been, so i added the old earth strap back on. at first was fine, but as i went along and tryed my highbeams the car felt like dying once again. i have cleaned the earth bits and pieces, checked fuses. i even checked the earth points under the rely box behind the passenger side headlight, but was tight and clean... i even checked the earth on the ecu. ANY help would be appreciated! |

Also, is there a Earth strap on the starter motor? and could maybe this problem come down to a faulty O2 senser/ISC clean up?

nothing usaully but the radio/cd player. also ive noticed it only happens when i try to use the highbeams, like it trys to stall then revs its guts out when it doesnt stall.. im just wondering if thiers any places i should check? or quick fix change? i have a el gli here for parts, that used to run great! till it started to blow smoke, hence the headache i bought.... anyway i think i should just get a autoelec to stuff around with it...

yea i haven't tryed that yet, i heard it wasnt the greatest for the computer. but ill give it a whirl. and yea the battery is prolly about 3months old and the terminals are brand new. all the earth points are clean and tight. which is why i have no idea what could be happening... lol

lol, the funny thing is that it wasnt connected at the fuse box, not at the alternater!
the junkies i bought the car from must have tinkered with it or something, because ive been nowhere near there lol |
