Ok so i picked a mint EL the other day for a few hundred, only thing wrong with it is that it wont start in Park. i have to put it in N and push up for it to start.
also if i put into 1 and then back to D it only goes to 3rd i have to go N then back to D for it to pick it up. also a light is on the dash all the time not sure what it means, any help thanks

is the switch on the gearbox itself or somewere else

its on the passenger side of the gearbox..

yeah i know weee the selector shaft goes iv changed a gear box in one before. the light that is on i dont think is the handbrake as that is below it with a P also the car seems dead at around 2000rpm really does not want to push past it. and the distance to empty wont leave 0km even tho i have put plenty of fuel in. the guage moves just the dte does not change

The {(!)} Light is the brake failure light. Might want to look into that lol. {(P)} is park brake.

ok the light is sorted its commig on with the dimister lol. ill check the loom tommorow. but for now ill be worried if the dimister light comes on. still car has no balls in 1st, think the selector could be helping or another issue?

Its stupid eletronics lol if the light really annoys you take it out lol i did that when my handbrake cable snapped and the park break light wouldnt turn off but realisticly you should get the brakes checked lol
