hello
im looking for some tech information on the ignition timing maps from eb and el im trying to set up a ems stinger on a eb falcon the ems came with a map to suit a el although it runs good im finding its a pig down low i was hoping someone might know how much difference there is between the eb and el map. |

little more info needed than just what the timing differences is, what manifold (log or BBM) turbo or non turbo, manual or auto, injectors stock or bigger?, and what your trying to do (get it to run to get tuned or just road tuning it) also what modle EMS are you using?

Its running like a pig as its tuned to run a BBM setup. I am going out on a limb here and gonna assume you have a log manifold. to get the most out of the stinger, either get it retuned to suit the log or put a BBM in there instead of the log.

Yes sory i should have given you more info
its a el engine in my eb using the eb manifold running a ems stinger that was running in the el before i removed the engine. i know there are differences in the lower timing between the two im hoping someone has info like map ignition timing at idle and up to 0 vac and up to 3500 rpms i know its a little difficult to explane as its a grid type map if its just a matter of adding 3 or 4 deg of timing under 3500 thats easy. i understand not everyone is playing with after market ecus maybe someone has viewed the factory maps used in j3s to give me an idea. i could spend the bucks and get the car tuned. but ide rather do it my self to get the satifaction of my efforts thanks |

Try here this maybe able to help you, as the only maps I have are for a turbo setup and for 42Lb ad 60Lb injectors.
But tyr here and see how you go, just download the maps (falcon ones) and look at them to see the difference between yours and these {DESCRIPTION}

i have a couple of tune files for a stinger, but all are from cars with a bbm..
although comparing the std log map with a bbm map is something im also interested in.... |

I'm interested in this too - because when I first fitted BBM to my ED many years ago and ran it with the BBM tied to long path off the factory ED ECU it had absolutely tyre frying neck snapping off the line and bottom end performance - but would die from pinging at anything more than maybe 1/3 throttle above 2000rpm.
To make it driveable overall with the ED ECU I had to run the BBM on short path constantly - no pinging and in general it felt same as the log manifold in the bottom and midrange but noticeably better in the top end. When I put an EL ECU in it, the car ran fine either locked in long or short path - with predictable loss of top end in long path and loss of bottom end in short path - but the long path performance in the bottom end was nothing like the ED had been giving. With the BBM switching working properly with EL ECU it felt like a normal EF/EL. SO my conclusion was that a BBM programmed ECU must have seriously conservative timing in the bottom end - I'd be curious to know exactly tho.
