Looking at an au/ba/bf snorkel going cheap. Genuine Ford item. Will it fit in the Ef Fairmont?

Depending which one you get you may have to trim some of the thermo fan shield to fit it properly, I had to when I fitted my bf xr6t snorkel, will be a worthwhile mod on your car though.

thats the ones, but I read up a bit on here and around the $45 to $50 mark is what they are worth, so I suppose itse not so much of a bargain ( is over the ss s**t). What had to be trimmed ? Was it due to the height of the mouth? Huge difference as mines now a bit over 30mm high and the Bayford ones are 75mm

where the front of the middle sits against the thermo fans its alot bigger and then you cant get it to line up with the standard air box, so i just chopped the thermo fan gaurd out just enough so it will fit, but no so much the fans are touching the snorkel, i can take a picture during the week for you

bry40l, if you could take a photo that would be great, just wanna compare, how yours sits compared to mine because i used a heat gun and pushed the part that sits against the fan shroud it

The factory AU 6-cylinder snorkel (incl XR6) is probably no better than the stock EF. The EL GT snorkel (may be same as XR8) I think is still available new - is much bigger and a straight 2-minute bolt-in with no trimming required. If you do buy an AU/BA snorkel, go for the XR8/XR6T unit - it is much bigger.

There's a comparison pic here:
