just wondering what does the wide-band controller do on the J3 chips what is the purpose of it.
I have been thinking of buying a j3 chip and programer and programing the chip all myself. Just wondering with is the purpose of the controller and what it does and how it helps tune my car. Can i use just a AFR gauge. Cheers for your help |

Without a wideband sensor and controller, you cannot know how rich or lean you are running. The factory narrowband sensor can tell you only about 14.5-14.8 AFR, maybe a little more. An AFR of 11 will read the same as an AFR of 14 - not much good for tuning. Wideband typically registers AFR range of at least 10 to 18.
