Hey guys as the subjects says...my oil return line is leaking from where it attatches to the sump and what has happen is when ive gone to change the gasket there ive put the bolts back in and they screwed up fine but they wont do up tight!! they do up n then just when you think its tightish, it becomes loose!

What is going on? stripped thread? cant see how that can happen tho as they went back in fine and i didnt even do it up tight cause ya couldnt do it up tight :/ grr

WOW what a bummer ah! well I know how you feel I been there to.

Looks like it's a weekend on the spanners for you.

It's a real bugger to you have to drop the K frame to drop the sump off, but that's the only way to do the job properly.

I wonder if you could tap a new thread in the sump??? If you try put heaps of grease on the thread tap so it will retain the alloy during the cutting.
Might be worth a try.

The sump is pretty thin so you may have inadvertently threaded it without knowing. Considering it is thin, I would think it doesn't require much effort.

As a quick fix (assuming the return line still threads into the sump) you can use gasket maker (eg, permatex red). Clean the area of any oil on both the sump hole and return line thread, smear some gasket maker on the end of the return line thread (not the tip) and tighten the thread up. Some gasket maker should squeeze out a little. Don't think this is the best solution...only other way would be to retap the return line hole.
