is that a common problem in around the ef-el series as i have seen quite a few of them getting around with faded bonnets and faded rear wings, the wings look awful (when they are faded, like they turn sort of white.).

LOL! You don't need a RESPRAY!
Just give it a good clean, and then wipe some polish on, and wipe it off. Then do the same with a liquid wax (wax will protect it and make the shine last longer).

Will cost about $30 for a big bottle of auto polish and a bit bottle of liquid wax.

LOL! Respray! Sif need respray! Why pay up to $1000 when you can spend $30 on a bit of product?!

Guess it really depends on how bad or to what extent it is fading to..
I mean its common sense to polish or even cut back faded paint to try and revive it, id asume this has already been tried as 90% of people who own cars would know to try it hehe.
Id say respray if its ONLY the bonnet, but if the whole front area is fading it will be hard/expensive to paint it up well with blending into the rest of the car.
If you havnt tried cut n polish/wax, do so 1st of course, then see how it comes up.

Give it a decent polish. My car felt furry when i bought it, but after a polish, its smooth :D

Can't you read you old poof? I said "up to $1000"!! This of course depends on the quality of the workmanship, type of paint, colour, etc etc.
I myself was quoted $400 for having my bonnet resprayed. If it was chameleon paint or something, it'd obviously be more :P

(I only want it resprayed because it was damaged when the struts s*** themselves and the bonnet slammed down onto jumperleads that were on the battery , not because the paint has faded).

You can't stuff it up if you do it yourself by hand! I'd even let my mum have a go at polishing my car and not be worried about it!
