I'm in the market for a new car. I want a AU1 XR. Before you say S2/S3 is better i don't care lol. I want a AU1. Prefer the bodykit.
Anyway the question was i was told AU1 had E series offset. But i thought that AU onwards was the later offset. So just wanted to find out

They have AU brakes, Rotor goes over the hub, the hub is not intergrated into the rotor. The limiting factor with AU I uprights is the position of the upper ball joint, It sits out like an E series Ball joint, get a late series one and there is a good chance it will have the AU II upright, this will allow direct bolt on of later series big brake kits that can be had for a good price.
But, +35 is the AU offset that you will be looking at. It is the Upright setup that confuses some people as to what brakes and wheel combos can be had. I am not sure what sort of work is required to change the uprights to a later series setup, but I would think, uprights and upper control arms would be a good place to start looking.

with au 2 you can go as far as bf high series brakes, same suspension set up..
but to change series 1 au to series 2 brakes you need, uprights/stub axles, lower control arms, sway bar and chasiss brackets, rotors, hubs, calipers, ect then its best to also change the booster and master cyl to series 2 aswell |

Its a big job.
