Hi,
I have a ford fg xr6 ute(non turbo) and and wanting to do some reasonably cheap mods to gain more power,
Just wondering if anyone knows wether it is worth flash tuning a standed xr6 or am I better off chuckin a intake and exhaust system at it

Any info would be great :)
Cheers

Get full exhaust, intake and 20% underdrive pulley kit. Then tune :)

It under drives the accessories and power steering pulley, resulting in freeing up horsepower. Basically, slows down those pulleys, so they drain less power. You're not gaining extra kw, but simply getting it back from off your other components that are stealing it. About $300 from Tuffcarparts on Ebay. That comes with all pulleys, and also the belt.

also you can get the computer reset which removes the limiters, apparently this will get the engine from 195 to 220kw... also from ford themselves if you run it on 98 octane this will give it an extra 9-12kw... nothing that iv tested but just been reading up a bit...

Running 98 Octane will get you about 210kw. Not sure what you mean by getting the limiters removed? Are you talking about torque limiters and s**t? Either way, a custom tune can remove all of that for you, plus add extra power.

yea removeing rev limiter n stuff but apparently ford aus limited the power output to 195 because anything over 200 is classed as a performance car and pays more tax, so removeing the limiters removes the power limiter in the computer... just going off what iv been told by someone whos done alot of research... only costs about 100-150 to get someone to do it compared to a custom tune... and yea 98 get you to about 205-210... i am yet to test the limiter theory... strapped for cash at the minute due to being layed off...
