im going to change my front speakers in my ford bf xr

the speakers im looking at are the Boston SR80's and the Boston sc85's

will theses speakers fit right in as they are 5x7's like the factorys?
are there really major differences between the SR80's and SC85's?

Would i be better getting with the Boston SR80's as they might be a better performer then the sc85?

being 5x7 should be fine.

i have opted for a 6" split for better sound.

hey there dudes,
BA's also have 5x7 fronts and rears. I opted for my ba 6.5" compatition hertz speakers with custom made baffles. it wasnt hard but i alos ran tweeters in the kick panels and dinamatted the doors... clearest sound ive ever had in a car and after deadening the boot with my two 12" subs... made the sound so much clearer and stronger...

any decent sound engineer or car stereo installer will tell you that its better to have a perfect circle speaker for evan sound distrubution. the cones will move better then a 5x7 or a 6x9...

The factory speakers are attached with connectors. So you'r eleft with two options...

1. desolder the connector from the facotry speaker, solder it to the new speaker.
2. cut off the connector from the factory wiring, solder it to the new speaker.

The other 'difficulty' is the speakers are screwed in with E6 bolts. They look like a male version of a Torx screw.

You can get a socket set to suit, or a pair of needle nose pliers will get the job done (slowly).

the only reason why you would have to re wire the car speakers is if you wanted to run a thicker gauge or better set of wires. this is unfortunately a serious mission with the b series fords. if you just want to upgrade the speakers and the wires are still in good working condition then its a simply a cut and solder. Caution: be careful when pulling the door trim off as the ford door handle is held on with a crappy design so it can snap... i have had my driver side door and passanger rear both snap when attempting anything with the doors....pain in the a** haha
