Can anyone tell me if the amplifier circuit to drive the coil in an EL I6 is contained in the ECU or is it in the TFI.

Reason being I will be running a piggback ECU and it will be running the Spark Out to the TFI, but it is not capable of driving the coil, so it needs an external amplifier. I just need to know whether I need to purchase anything else?

The TFI electronics drive the coil. The Spark out from your ECU triggers the TFI to make a spark. You wont need any other hardware.

Read the MegaSquirt thread (a bit lengthy I know), it contains everything you will need to know.
