Hi all, just sold my EF Fairmont and bought a nice tidy silver AU XR6.
Pretty much standard all over, except with a 10-disc CD-stacker in the boot. It has a remote wired into the cabin centre console. The boot stacker powers up, opens, allows you to load discs etc, the remote works, (has a digital display, shows what disc and track is playing), but I can't get any CD input/action to show or play on the factory head unit. I don't know a lot about in-car hi-fi - just wondering where I should start looking for the problem? When I press the "CD" button on the stereo head unit, absolutely nothing happens. E.g. if I am playing the radio and press "CD", radio keeps playing. Any ideas? Thanks.

by the sounds, the pevious owner had an aftermarket head unit. The factory heads have no input so, I recommend finding a new head unit with aux imputs, not just out puts.

plus the head unit and stacker should be connected so as to be able to function the stacker from the head unit. so u may need a specific head unit of if lucky and adaper

if its the 4 little hole 2 on either side of the unit face, what i did was found wire the same diameter as the holes, cut 2 lenths and bent each into a u making sure the ends were the same length. and pushed them in on either side so all 4 slide clips are all released at the same time. Then slid the unit out.

you will have to leave the wires in as you slide it out. dont pull on them to try and get the unit out they just unlock the slides.
