Hi all,
Having some problems with the headlights on an EF Fairmont. when the headlights are on, the high beams are ever so slightly on all the time, you can just notice them, and then when you pull the stalk forward to actually turn the highbeam on, the low beam dimms alot and there isnt that much light. The car has some aftermarket headlights with standard globes, i did have HID's in it, and i noticed when they were in and the high beam was turned on the headlights turned off completley. is this a relay somewhere or is it dodgy aftermarket headlight wiring? thanks.

Check/replace the low beam relay (5 pin).
If that doesn't work, then look for any changes to the wiring. |

Thanks mate. Where is the relay located?
When the HiD's were in I changed the plugs around in the connector but I'm sure I put them back to how they should be when I put the standards back in. I'm thinking maybe the wires inthe actual lights is not right to start with.

Actually I've got that wrong. I didn't notice it was a Fairmont. Falcons have the 5pin relays to keep low beams on when you flip to high beam.
It sounds like you've got the plugs in the connector wrong and that's causing it to be dim. I've got a connector at home that I can tell you where they should be. |

 In the photo from left to right it is high beam, low beam, and ground. |

Is that the one that the light bulb fits into?
That looks about right I think
