Hey guys, i have a 99 AU xr8 i recently bought and its started making some interesting noises.

On acceleration at low rpm it makes a metallic noise, sounds like from the engine but its hard to tell (i dont have the greatest hearing) sounds like tools rattling slightly in a bag but only lasts a second.

Also and it may be unrelated, its developed a knock coming from under the car, i can feel it through my left leg when its against the footwell as i drive.

Both noises only happen sometimes (ie, not on the test drive ).

Any ideas?

The knocking sound is more then likely Sway Bar D-Bushes. Not expensive, had mine replaced for under $100 i think.

Is the Noise from the engine when it is under heavy load? It could be pinging which isn't great. What fuel are you using? If it's 91, try some 98 and see if it still makes the noise.
