I have 1990 model Capri whci seems to cut out under power at about 3000 rpm, then when the engine slows down to around 2200 it will accelerate again. Fuel filter has been replaced but fuel pressure on the rail is a bit low.
Any ideas |

Thanks, I did think fuel pump initially, the only problem with that was that the cut out seems to be at a very specific engine Rpm

Sounds fuel related to me too.....
Could be the pump is cutting out at a particular flow rate..... Another thought is it could be a partially blocked pick up... Higher engine RPMS draining the lines quicker than the blocked pick up can supply.... Rev's drop, fuel line refills allowing revs to build again... cycle continues!! It's not very technical, but it's possible.....

i had a coil react like that once, it was like it hit the rev limiter @ about 3200.
with the fuel pressure, how low is a bit low?

Fuel pressure was 108psi, factory specs said should be around 175psi, i have replaced the fuel pump and the problem is all but gone, just a short hiccup at around 3000, but i will replace the coil also, thanks for the advice.

I'm not positive it should be that high as I rang ford direct to get the specs.
