hey all, im just wondering if its possible to put the diff gears out of an ef-el in my ltd? im not positive but i think i have 2.75ish diff gears in my car now and its absolutly guttless off the line. im thinking about swapping them out for 3.45s or something similer. i know ef-el's had a 28 spline axles so i was wondering if i had to swap axles at the same time.. cheers.

yes you can,
you can also directly fit a eb2 or ed diff, these are also 28 spline axles.. eb xr has 3.23 and ed xr6 has 3.45... but if you fit anything from eb2 onwards you will also need to change the pinion flange to suit your tailshaft or use a lwb tailshaft from eb2 up.. |

if you change the ratio you just need to change the speedo drive gear on the speedo sensor..

Wont the lower control arm bushes be different width as well between a NA and EB2 onwards?

yes your right...
he can fit eb2 bushes to the rear end of the lower arms or use eb2 arms and cut out the small steel spacer from the na chassis where the control arm goes.. |
