I am wondering what tips and tricks anyone may have to remove the exterior door mouldings without damaging them and to minimise the double sided tape sticking to both the doors and mouldings.

the reason I ask is that I dont have any and I want to cover the clear edge left where the old mouldings were when it was resprayed.

heat gun and wide paint scraper,cover both side of the scraper with tape so its blunt and slowly push it down into the softened tape.
