Hey Folks -

Got me a little problem. I run my car on Petrol once a week just because I've been told this is the right thing to do when running a dual fuel setup.

Now my dilemma is - everytime I switch to petrol (been told to switch @ around 2-3 grand) the car conks out. Switch it back to LPG and the car starts fine again. Now this has only happened recently, i've checked the connection on the back of the switch, made sure I had enough fuel and my gauges weren't faulty..but it just aint running on petrol!

Any suggestions? Theories?

Ta.

Why dont you just start the car on Petrol ? I do this and i never have problems like that.. :) Also you should prolly start the car on petrol EVERY morning just to keep the engine happy and then switch to LPG after. :) Will do less engine dmage in the long run.

I would also suggest to NOT switch fuel while going 2000-3000rpm its best to do it when the car is at like 1000rpm or 1500rpm, your putting to much strain on the engine components doing the change over that high.

But if none of that seems to make it better than yes you possibly have a crook fuel pump and or filter.

Hope this helps, good luck. :)

I second the Fuel Pump, I had mine go on my EA, I was running low on LPG on day, when it ran out I tried switching to Petrol and the car just died. RACV had to tow me to a servo so I could get some gas.

i have only joined to day when i sore your problem.
i dont know what the problem, but i have some helping hints for once you get your car going well again, now both my oldies cars (fairlane I6 and futura I6) are duel fuel and we have had our fair go of problems. anyway i just want to tell you that in the factory fitted gas kit that it says you should when switching have the car in park and have the engine running at about 1500rpm, also it sounds like the fuel pump might have gone this happened on the fairlane so when you would switch over it would run abit then cut out. try having someone turning the igintion on while your at the fuel pump (top of the tank) listen to hear if its working.
hope i have helped

ps. when you kick the car over it should start on petrol the if you turned it off last time with it running on gas it will switch over after a couple of secs.
