no, it doesnt work that way, if u change the computer over it will not start unless u get it remapped from either ford or an auto electrician that has the software to do it, it costs about $80 - $100 just to flash the new computer, and im pretty sure a bf ecu is not compatible with a ba and vice verca
I also dont see why the 02 ba would chew more fuel than the 07 bf? yes the power is slightly better in the 07 bf but its more the strength of the internals/ gearbox that make these 2 so different you should be getting 10.5 - 12.5 l/100kms in the 02 ba, depending on how you drive of course and what conditions, and in the 07 bf you should get about the same. If your 02 ba is sucking too much juice then I doubt changing the ecu and bcm with do anything. How much is it sucking at the moment? |

i tryto drive it as easy as possible but it still runs about 18L per 100k`s i have changed the spark plugs, throttle body, oxygen sensor, have rebuilt the injectors, changed fuel filter done the works, my mechanic did a scan and said there is nothing wrong. i have never been able to get even 400 k`s to a tank

Just as a comparrison my 04 BA Turbo averages 13.9 around city driving.
As said Ford may have a software upgrade for the ecu. Try asking if ford can tell if your ecu has an update available for it. Everytime i get my car serviced at Ford that is always checked.

The pin arrangement is different between BA and BF.
To get 18L/100km something is wrong. Even if you could change the ecu it wouldn't help. Did your mechanic even bother with live data? Does he know what it is? and how to interpret it? Simply doing 'a scan' and saying there is nothing wrong just because there are no fault logged is kinda pointless. Any one bother doing a back pressure test in front of the CAT? uniacidz wrote: But more then likely isn't, could be a map sensor, lose vacuum hose off it or even temp sensor playing up and running rich The T-MAP is bolted into the manifold. There are no hoses connected to it. |

check the air intake where joins to throttlebody best to take it off and put it back on to make sure it is seated right.if it isnt you may need to replace the the whole part as the rubber stuffs out and it comes attached so you cant just replace the rubber i think $110 from ford. but this problem will sky rocket your fuel usage.i no from experience thanks to midas
