Hey guy's

I have an AU3 XR8 220Kw "4SPD AUTO", when the selector is in 1st, under soft acceleration you can shift manually, "BUT" under normal or better acceleration the dash indicator goes back to "D" and it changes in auto mode as normal even with the selector in 1st, and you can change between 1st and 3rd and nothing happens, until its put back in to drive, then it back to normal

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

just to confirm, with the shifter in "1st" postion and hard acceleration the car will shift through the gears fine like it was in "d" ?

if so, then the inhibitor switch on the side of the gearbox is faulty, easy to replace.

but if the gearbox will only stay in 3rd gear, then you have a problem.
