Another thing to consider is the power difference between the EB-ED std and XR6 and EF-EL std and XR6 variants...
Std EB/ED: 147kw EB/ED XR: 161kw 14kw difference... Std EF/EL: 157kw EF/EL XR6: 164kw 7kw difference (Correct me if they're wrong) Obviously the EB/ED XR6's would be noticeably quicker then a Std EB/ED as 14kw seems like a significant amount where is the EF/EL XR6's only have a 7kw gain over their standard counterparts... Hence why for example an ED XR would feel similar to a stock EL as there is only 4 kw difference. Based on my own experience, my EB XR6 is only quicker off the mark then my parents AU Fairmont due to the higher diff gears, from a roll on I reckon the AU would get me. They both have the same mods (2.5" catback, high flow cat, extractors, 'highflow' air filter and a bigger snorkel). Whether I sound like a goose or not, my point is 4kw isn't much difference at all when comparing similar cars however with a difference of 14kw, you would obviously notice a bigger difference. I could start getting into weight differences but I'll just stop here...

If you actually DRIVE an XR6 it quite clearly performs beyond anything a Gli can deliver. Traffic light heroics is not actually "driving" - and going fast is not quite the same as being quick...

The diff gears make more of a difference than anything, especially on the auto. Not so much on the manual, since the first gear on a t5 is pretty short. I'd preffer a 3.23 diff behind a t5, so that second hits 100kmh. With my current ratio of 3.89:1 I only get 75kmh out of second. First is lucky to get to 50, and is actually slower off the mark than when it was an auto, only because the 3.89's are the bomb for the 4 speed auto.

There is no point swapping tickford parts onto your standard falcon. Get a aftermarket cam and a tune and it will wip the XR6. If you want to take off fast put 3.9's in with good tires. Mine does 0-100 in 5.2-5.3 seconds with my 3.9's.
