Hi all,

Iv got an N/A BA XR6. Im very unimpressed with its throttle response and heard that changing the CAI would improve this.

Two names tend to pop up quite a bit, "SS Induction (Growler)" and Blue Power Racing.

To be honest iv heard more people talk about Blue Power but im more impressed with the design of SS induction's Growler..

Has anyone ever tried out both products? Which ones more effective?

Cheers

I too have a Growler, and love it. The noise is pretty amazing. Comparing it to my mates standard XR I get a bit more fuel economy as well. With mods like CAI and Exhausts you won't notice much power gain until you get a performance tune to tie everything together.

just a tip, you wont notice any different between a growler intake to the typhoon (with K&N filter) set up. Only difference is the annoying single note BURRRR from the growler, and the growler is about 8 times the cost.
ive had both set ups, growler last about 2 days before i got sick of it and put the typhoon back on

Are you kidding me? The note of the growler was one of the reasons I chose it over the typhoon set up! Combine it with an exhaust system and it gives it a really nice rumble ^_^

yerrr all it did for me was drown out my exhaust sound, and give an intake sound that remind me it was a N/A 6 under the hood, not my cup of tea, especially when the over priced plastic cost so much, and gives no noticeable performance enhancement over a typhoon setup on a 6 N/A

I think it sounds great... I had it on before I had the exhaust, and it sounded awesome.

Yeah same, I had it on before the exhaust as well..my exhaust isn't overly loud and it isn't drowned out by the growler, if anything it harmonises with it ^_^

You paid $50! Lucky prick lol

Yes, they're overpriced a lot lol

The newer ones are better than the one I've got also... Has the extra vents on top like the FG model.

dunno who said that for you to hear.

But the best way to improve throttle response is with a tune.

The electronic throttle in these cars is somewhat more doughy than a cable throttle*, but it can be fixed with a tune.

*Ford deliberately did this for various reasons. But it can be tuned back to 1:1 so it'll feel like a cable throttle again.

But it is true with the CAI making causing less delay for when power actually comes on. The second you jab the accelerator the car jumps into action. I have a bog stock XT at home as the paddock basher / parts transplant and it takes nearly half a second for it to register that I've pressed the pedal.

Obviously what you said is going to be a lot better than a cai for response, but cai does help.
