Compressed air or nitrous requires refill.

As opposed to your internal combustion engine which requires a huge wopping tank of petrol or LPG (god forbid, CNG) in your boot that costs the earth to fill?

It's bad enough you have to fill your fuel tank, you now want to fill something else up with air/N2? The less I have to fill up at the servo, the better IMO!

there was a setup around the 'nets which was 3 starter motor sized electric motors, hooked up to an eaton blower,

{DESCRIPTION} (partway down the page)

the idea of decoupling the turbine from the compressor with a generator/motor pair is good as you could ditch the alternator,

Im no expert on GTR's but I did read somewhere the R35 GTR runs some form of electronic assistance in relation to its turbochargers to reduce lag at low rpm.

Makes sense I guess. Pre spool using electronic assistance and avoid, or at minimum reduce lag.
