Hi guys n girls

Stupid me recently ran my fuel tank below a quarter and now i believe my fuel pump is not working. As i turn the key i normally hear the fuel pump making a noise. On occasions it decides not too make any noises and subsequently my car wont start. Im assuming the problem would be my fuel pump, correct?

Today i gave the tank a hit with a rubber mallet and it crank over, but its only a matter of time before it dies on me.

How hard is it to get the fuel pump out of the tank and what do i have to do to get it out?

Regards Dale

yer sounds like a dogy pump
but i have regualry run my car under 1/4 and the pump has been fine *touches wood *
usually a filter change is a good idea at the same time as a pump change

to change the pump
lift the carpet up in the boot
there will be a big a** black ring thingo u need to remove that, there us a tool u can buy that makes life REAL easy or u can make it using a gregorys manual ( this has the dimensions etc )
one u have the black ring off undo the hose fittings and electrical connectors
them remove pump and put in new 1
easy kinda

be careful when removing the pump not to damage the sender unit. when i replaced mine in the wagon, i didn't realise the sender was broken *AFTER* pouring 68L of premium back into the tank  now i've gotta find a sender and go through the whole process again!!

hey guys

i believe the problem with my eb xr8 is not infact the fuel pump but something to do with the electrical side. Occassionally the fuel pump will stop and consequently the car will not start. To fix this ive tapped the tank inside the boot and as a result the old 302 fires up.

Does this sound like a electrical fault?
