Hey guys, just after some advice...
I'm looking at getting a very late NC LTD V8, and I am just wondering about trying to find one on LPG? Other than the obvious cheaper price of LPG, are there advantages / disadvantages to getting one of these cars on gas, as in the Windsor 5.0? Cheers guys! |

Honestly, most you will find on LPG will be very old tech, and not be all that great on fuel economy on the LPG. With the price of gas what it is these days, economy on gas is becoming a bigger issue.
Just pickup a tidy example that is still only on petrol, then throw a gas injection setup at it. Much better power & economy, they are not too pricey these days, and no headaches like the old gas setups! I've got gas injection on my Eb Ghia, had it since 2004, and if I get the chance, I'll look at swapping the impco 425 setup on my EB Xr8 out for a gas injection setup down the track. Cheers ToranaGuy

Cheers for the advice buddy
Forgive my ignorance - what is gas injection and how is it different? |

Gas injection uses one gas injector per cylinder, just like petrol injection setups. It's controlled by a gas ecu, and a much better way of doing LPG in a petrol injected car. Have a look on here in the LPG section, there's a thread with some pics to show off the setups.

Coming from a dude that's had gas injection on his 6cyl EB Ghia since 2004, I can tell you hands down it's heaps better for power, economy & no backfires! It's worth the extra in the long run. I've done over 250,000kms on my setup since the LPG was installed. I think I have an engine bay pic of it in my build thread. Cheers ToranaGuy

i was getting 600 - 650 KM's per full gas tank highway driving on an injected gas setup with my now somewhat deceased 6cyl AU Fairlane (thanks to a few too many & a big red roo).
my other 3 x EF's all of which are 6cyl only get between 400 - 500KM's highway driving but they use the old gas setups. IMHO injected LPgas is the way to go. No backfires is not the only benefit, you don't lose much low end power/torque & the difference between the 2 fuels power wise is very minimal. |
