Need a new windscreen for a roadworthy (apparently!), does anyone here know the cheapest way of going about getting one? I read into repairs but looks like they won't touch mine as it's old and too close to the edge. So, would you recommend I take my one out and get someone to come to me and replace it? Or is that too much of a pain in the a** (I've never done it, so not sure what's involved)
Windscreen is from an NA Fairlane |

Shop around for best price..should be able to get a new one fitted for under $200...stay away from Obriens unless you want to get ripped off.

Glass must be cheap at your end of the country. At the prices you pay for the glass here, they would be charging you $10 for fitting at that price.

Thank for the replies people
hans hartman - When you mention finding one that does car yards, do you mean they source one out from a wrecker? Or do I do the sourcing out? teeroy - Was that for your EL? Would it be much different for an NA do you think, being an older car and old? |

Needed a windscreen for my sister's Saab about a month ago..called Obriens, quoted me $700,said it needed special rubbers.Called National Windscreens, they said $180 fitted with lifetime warranty. No prizes for guessing who I got to do it.....As stated above, shop around for best price.

Hi,
I have had a few windscreens from O'Brian for a fleet car and all were faulty. Cheap Chinese rubbish with distortion on the passenger side. Price was over the top also. Regards 96ELGli

That sucks 96ELGli. So not only are they ridiculously priced, their windscreens are rubbish anyway? Haha, what a dodgy company.
I got my windscreen a while ago now, paid $180 fitted. I'm unsure of where it was from now though. Somewhere in Geelong. |
