hey guys, i got a new valve cover gasket, are they the same for a ED and EF? i told repco what car i had and they gave me one for a ED :S
im hoping that will fix some of the leaks, next step will be the knock sensor or the oil pressure switch, what ever that thing is thats leaking in one of the pics i posted lol.

*Timing case gasket.
*Timing case C gasket.
*Timing chain tentioner Oring
*Timing chain guide retainer bolt
and any other things that can leak at the front of the motor
and do i have to remove the head to fix any of these?

The timing case gasket and c gasket usual require head removal or sump removal. Sump usually requires engine out unless you've done it enough times to work it out. I suggest you start with the tentioner o ring and the guide bolt.
You need to remove the belt and then the power steering pump (don't have to undo the fluid lines you can undo the mounting bolts and lay the pump out of the way near the exhaust manifold) then you undo the brackets that hold the pump on (from memory the 10mm on the front bracket is the guide bolt that will need some silicone around it on re assembly) and when they brackets are off, 2 of them, you will see the tentioner, it has a square 14mm head with thread into a circle part that goes into the timing case.
You can undo the 14mm and it will bring the circle part with it. Then separate the 2 pieces, clean them up, compress the tentioner, re insert the tentioner, apply silicone the the circle part and wind it in as far as you can by hand or with circlip pliers or a screwdriver in one of the small holes, then release the tentioner and put in the 14mm part (with silicone on the thread) and do it up tight, this will tighten both parts.
I believe there is a sticky in this forum for doing a head gasket repair, this will outline the steps on how to re set tentioner and all that. With pics too I think. Have a search.

And no I'm 99% certain you can't use a Ed rocker cover gasket on a ef El rocker cover

The series 1 ED rocker cover gasket has the black half moon where as the series 2 is the same as the EF/EL/AU.

what do you mean by black half moon sorry?

ok fair enough, i still dont really see a difference lol, i got the gasket to fit anyway although it did look a little different the the one i pulled off. but it fits lol, whats the best head gasket to get? im going to pull the head off soon and replace it with a tickford one and do all the gaskets and seals then

As for timing cover gaskets - Buggery knows where to get good ones of them on a day to day basis. BNT sourced one for me, and would not recommend.

The paper timing case gasket and some permatex aviation gasket maker works a treat

Cheers Pakrat. I used Permatex of a semi transparent blue silicon "gasket maker" variety. Now have the gold stuff, which seems a lot more resilient thus far.

The stuff we use is black. Like tar. And sticky like tar.
It might just be tar haha
