Hi everyone, This is my first post on here. I have had my XH XR6 ute for about 6 months now and have always wanted to install a sub woofer as I love my Rock music and need the extra bass. I thought I would share what I have done as I never found alot of info on the net of what others have done to install a sub without loosing what little cab space there is.
I made a sub box to suit a couple a 8 inch Jaycar sub woofers that I have had sitting around for about 8 years and fitted it in the cavity next to the fuel tank. The sound comes through nicely in the cab and gives that needed fill in bass sound I love. This may help others wanting to do the same thing. The amp is fitted under the drivers seat with the speaker cable running through the rubber grommet already there in the corner.
Here's some photos of the box fitted.

Very nice mate, might have to do something similar on my XG!

How does it sound inside the cabin?

Is it too loud outside?

Sorry for not getting back to people earlier. It sounds good for two 8 inch subs. The sound travels through to the cab fine. I think it would be better with one 10 inch sub but i had these subs laying around for years so decided to use them. Listening from out side i can hear the bass but its not huge like a bigger sub its more punchy than boomy but depends on the song playing. I also run two 4 inch speakers in the dash and two 4 inch speakers in the doors which i upgraded from the standard ones. My Alpine deck has the option to set the EQ of both sets of speakers and the sub independently of each channel so i can crank the music and not have the speakers distort as i have set them just below their limits. This setup means its not over the top which suits me fine and it was fairly cheap and is loud enough.
