If doing this in future consider finding a nut the same thread and simply tacking it to the door lining with a small weld. Works.

Worked for 3 to 4 times of opening the door, untill it broke off... Hence me using the original design and fortifying it (provided the rivets are iron! not alu like the factory ones) Cheers! |

When I found ford no longer had the rivets. I just put a bolt in the door, then a thin nut held it in place, and then mounted the door trim with another nut. Easy, cheap, strong. I did counter sink the inner nut into the door trim on the first door, but realised it was unnecessary so not on the rest.

The hole is big enough that you can put a tack weld on the nut if you hold the not on the back of the door metal.... Never mind, all good. Whatever works, works. Apart from crappy welds on painted surfaces. Eg - Chinese fitness equipment.... |
