Use hi-chem, ppg, dupont, glasurit etc. Good brands cost more but the finish off the gun is almost gauranteed to be worth it.
Protec paint is rubbish, metalux not too bad.
I'm assuming you'll be using 2k paint?

By 2K he means 2 pack system

Thats true 2K is superior to Acrylic.

If you had to ask what 2K means then i'd use acrylic as its far more forgiving than 2K..
If your a first timer/novice then with 2K you'll be getting horrid runs in the job, the paint will be going off in the gun rendering it useless etc.. for the experienced 2k, for the no idea.. acrylic.
2K is deadly.
You'll get people arguing it.. its up to you mate if you feel confident.

Well if he is a 3rd yea App. then get him to get you the paint. He will get it cheaper than you can (trade) and then he is the one using it so he can't b**ch that the paint is s**t.
