So having just bought an AU and getting used to how it works i've come accross what may be a problem with the drivers door lock, although not knowing anything about AU's i'm not sure. it has central locking and what i've noticed is that when i've locked the car when i then try and unlock it with the key (don't have a keyfob yet) it doesn't actually unlock the doors unless i lift the handle as well, is this normal ?
When i turn the key i can see the lock try and move up a tiny amount but that's it.. also if i'm in the car and lock it and use the inside handle to unlock it i notice theres a tiny bit of a resistance and then and then kind of a clunk before it opens, doesn't happen if the car isn't locked but the manual does say using the handle is a way to unlock it from the inside. So basically do i have a stuffed internal lock mechinism ? And does anyone know how much it will cost to get a keyfob so i can use that to lock/unlock ? Thanks. |

sounds like the door latch/actuator is binding, i had a similar problem and replaced it with one from a wreck and its all fine now..

Well unbelievably it just fixed itself.. the keyfob the previous owner gave me i was told didn't work, which it didn't.. so i thought i'd see what would happen if i tried to relearn it.. well it actually works now.. BUT not only that but after doing that the doors now operate exactly as you would expect when using the key to unlock them, and pulling the handle inside has no resistance now. *shrug*
Unless there is something that detects the presence of the fob ? |
