hey guys, my brothers au has a bit of an issue with the thermo fans, when they are meant to turn on, the drivers side fan wont work and the car obviously gets hot, he drove it to work the other day and when he turned it off it spat coolant out the the header tank, he googled the issue and turns out a guy had the same issue with the thermo fan, so my question is, has any had an issue like this before and what should i be checking before he replaces the fans?

thanks

supply the fans with 12v
if they don't turn replace them.

if they do turn its not the fans that are the problem

could be the relays, ECU or perhaps a short somewhere.

Sorry if this seems stupid but how would I go about doing this? Im only starting to learn how to fix and maintain my car myself so this is one of those things I still need to learn. Itd be great if you could list any tools I might need and how to connect them up. Cheers in advance.

he means connect the fans directly to the battery to see if they power on. if they do the fans are fine and the issue lies elsewhere
