Being a tight a$$, i bought a set of bushes to retrofit my lower rear trailing arm instead of shifting an extra $200 to get the complete assembly.
I just figured out that the shell from the old bushes needs to go. Can it be easily pressed out? I noticed the bushing manufacturer advises to remove only one lower arm at a time. What happens when removing both at once? Thanks for your assistance |

mate i just done that to mine. the wide bit your measuring is the outer shell to the old bush, you need to get that out (prick of a job) then press the new ones in.

mine wouldnt press out with a 20 ton press so i used a die grinder to cut two lines through the old bush then easily used a hammer and chisel to knock it out

yeah two on each. $100 for all the bushes iirc. just follow the instructions on the new bushes for install but you need a press. not sure if you can do it without one but i dont think it will be easy.

thanks for your comments.
I'll take them to a mate who has a press. Still not sure what happens if remove both arms at once. I might support the diff with 2 jacks at both ends instead of one in the middle of the diff housing |

All done.
The verdict is a 20ton press won't do the job. We managed with a much bigger one (the piston is rated at 60T). With the proper fittings to keep the base of the arm flat, they all out went nicely. Lost few days moking around, in the end with the proper press and tooling it is only a 30 minutes job. |
