Looks like I need another intermediate shaft for my EL and of course Ford no longer produce these parts. I believe I have tried Bursons etc in the past but no joy.
Does anyone know if aftermarket intermediate shafts are available and if so, where from?

its the shaft that goes from the firewall to the steering rack near the headers.

To the op: i had to replace mine also, as you said these are nla from ford. I got one from a wrecker, its all i can suggest but choose wisely, i removed them from about 5 cars before i found a decent one.

I asked this question in the suspension / driveline category and no-one knew who might sell one.
So yesterday, I had a mechanic mate weld the shaft for me. Now it's tight as a drum and problem is solved. :)
