Hi guys,
Yesterday my wife rang me to say that she was having drama's with our ef11 fairmont. She went to take off from a playgroup session and lost all drive within about 100m. She left the car and walked home with the kids. I went to look at it after work and straight away could see the line of trans fluid leading to the car. A quick look underneath confirmed that it had lost all fluid. After towing back home amd getting underneath the problm was pretty clear. It had thrown the circlip from the crossshart cover on the drivers side and pushed this out rupturing the seal. It looks like a tight fit and as I cant find a manual for the btr box I have no idea of what the go is for changing this. I am also worried that the box might now be toast as it has been driven with no fluid . I am therefore worried about spending money on the seal and fluid only to find the box is shagged anyway. So - how do you change that side shaft seal and what are the chances that the box is OK. I have never heard of this happening before so am in the dark a bit and any info would be appreciated. Cheers in advance. |
