If you get another small leaf and do that, you'll have around a 1 - 1.25" drop, and you retain pretty much the spring rate. That's what I found with the std 4 leaf E series wagon rears. Not really, you're essentially flattening out the spring stack - you can fine tune and make a decent setup - takes a lot of work of course. But as mentioned, if you want a large drop and maintain spring rate, reset and more leafs added is the best way. That's what the ED/EF XR6 wagons have - 5 leaf reset XG ute springs.

Lol@dodgey. Tell me how?
Ride quality feels about the same, and there's very little chance of bottoming out. I've had a few hundred kg in the back and it probably only dropped an inch. I've also towed a loaded 6x8 box trailer and had no issues. I didn't take notice of how many leaf springs were in there tho.. It was very very stiff prior. |

What type of car was it ?
Be good to know the spring setup - you probably could get away swapping one leaf out of a 5 or 6 leaf stack, but as I mentioned above, the car would scrape going out off shallow driveways, etc, and sometimes bottom out. Others have found same with the 4 leaf E series wagon setup doing that.

I did this upside down leaf trick, but used an extra leaf.
I am however using an XG Ute Spring pack, with a wagon main spring, and I have load carrying airbags etc. Cheers BenJ

With stock fronts
Then with the front fkn low. An inch lowering block certainly wouldn't go astray. Previous owners used to tow a caravan ( had electric brakes) so may have upgraded the leaf setup. |
